Despite a production span from 1985 to 2006, only around 1,500 pieces of the yellow gold variant were ever produced, making it an exceptionally rare reference. The ref. 25594BA, affectionately nicknamed the Owl for its distinctive dial layout resembling a pair of wide, symmetrical eyes, holds the distinction of being the first Royal Oak to feature the combined Day-Date and Moonphase complication. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, this 36mm reference blends Gérald Genta’s signature design with practical elegance, featuring day and date subdials at 9 and 3 o’clock and a moonphase at 6. The layout is not only balanced but aesthetically exquisite—the moonphase adds a poetic touch, while the subdials are gracefully integrated for everyday utility. This particular piece features the rare Mark 1 dial, found only in the earliest examples, and has just been serviced, ensuring it performs as beautifully as it looks.
