The AP Royal Oak ref. 14700BA is a highly elusive neo-vintage mid-sized Royal Oak, produced briefly around 1991 as a transitional reference between the Jumbo era and the later 14790 series. While AP has never published official production figures, it is widely estimated by collectors that fewer than 500 examples were produced, contributing to its reputation as one of the scarcest mid-sized Royal Oaks, particularly in yellow gold.
Drawing direct lineage from the iconic Royal Oak Jumbo ref. 5402, the 14700BA retains period-correct details such as the flat AP logo and petite tapisserie dial. Its dial is visibly larger than most other 36 mm Royal Oaks, and when paired with an exceptionally slim bezel, the watch wears noticeably larger than its dimensions suggest and sits closer on the wrist to the original Jumbo than any other mid-sized reference—earning its celebrated collector nickname, the “Mini Jumbo.”
This particular example is presented in very good condition, with a sharp case, a tight bracelet with absolutely no sag, and a perfect dial free from any damage—a combination that is increasingly difficult to find and exceptionally rare to come by in such well-preserved condition.
